Well, it's only a few days until Christmas and it's been a very busy month already. Eric and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary on the 15th of the month. It is mind-boggling that it's been THAT long! We've had our ups and downs, but I'm grateful to have such a wonderful companion and the greatest dad in the whole world! Our kids never doubt that their dad loves them and I think that's really special.
Camden is now on break for 2 weeks and he's enjoying it! First grade is going really well for him. He just brought home his first "honor roll" report card. All A's and 1 B (89%). We are very proud of him. He might be the youngest in his class, but he's definitely keeping up -- and then some! I've been one of the room moms and I really enjoy the kids in his class! They are a fun group of kids.
Karina has been growing out of the tantrums and attitude more every day. She is so close to 3 and I'm hoping 3 will be "magic" for her. She was potty-trained in August, but has regressed a few times and that has been particularly stressful for mommy. Both our kids were difficult in that area. I've heard stories of kids that are easy to potty-train. My carpets can prove otherwise for mine! I'm hoping we're done with diapers -- finally!
Eric has been very busy selling homes this year. He has put in more hours for smaller commissions. The home prices here in Vegas have really plummeted. Our home is now worth just a few thousand more than Eric paid for it 10 years ago!! That is crazy. Eric has been working on iPhone applications and has a few really great ones that have materialized this year. The second one should hit the "app" store in the next few months.
I have been enjoying the extra quiet in the house during the day now that Camden is in school all day. He really seems to love it and Karina enjoys having the house to herself. There are no arguments during the day unless Karina wants to fight with me! I have had some pretty good cupcake orders this year and still love it when I get the chance to make (and eat) them.
Camden and Karina are so much fun to have in our lives. They love to laugh and wrestle and they are in constant motion. I know one day we will really miss the way they are right now at these ages. I love them so much. I'm sure they will be bombarded with gifts (once again) this week, but I'm hoping they understand the real reason we celebrate this time of year. I keep trying to reinforce the story of Jesus' birth, but it's hard to compete with the commercials and toys. I'm so grateful for my Saviour and the example He is to all of us. The things He endured for us to have the wonderful blessing of living forever with our families and friends. I will forever be thankful for Him.
Merry Christmas to you all!
